District Disaster Management Officer of Yupia commits suicide in Itanagar

Itanagar: The District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) of Yupia, near here, has committed suicide at her residence at ESS sector here Saturday morning, police said.

The 38-year-old lady Tsering Youngzom ended her life by hanging herself inside the bathroom of her residence, Capital Superintendent of Police (SP) Tumme Amo informed.

As per the preliminary investigation, the officer committed suicide due to work pressure and tension arising out of COVID-19 pandemic.

According to family sources, the DDMO had also written an incomplete resignation letter to Papum Pare district Deputy Commissioner.

Amo informed that on getting information he rushed to the spot with the officer in charge of Itanagar police station along with a magistrate.

The SP also contacted the Chief Medical Officer of Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) at Naharlagun to make all necessary arrangements for conducting the post mortem and carried the body to the hospital by arranging an ambulance mobile app ‘U Tell Us’.

“As per our initial investigation, it is a suicide case without any foul play,” Amo said.
