ITANAGAR: Women vendors at the Aalo daily market in West siang district of Arunachal Pradesh have a reason to smile, with the inauguration of the electrification there by Aalo East MLA Kento Jini on Saturday.

The MLA accompanied by the BDO and members of various Market Committees inaugurated the electrification amid cheer and applause. The electrification is bound to bring comforts not only to sellers but also buyers too.

During the short function in the market premises, the MLA said that lights and fans were installed in the market shed stretching for more than 100m for the welfare of the village womenfolk who sit there from dawn to dusk to sell their commodities facing the twin problems of light and summer heat for long.

Though the payment of these electric bills would be managed from the MLA's end for one year, yet Jini appealed to the bazaar committees to work out ways and means to pay electricity bills and for electric equipments after that term. Disclosing that efforts would be made to develop the shed with a concrete structure, he added that the area would be beautified in the years to come. The legislator appealed to the vendors and buyers to keep the surrounding neat and clean and also maintain all the COVID-19-related SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) during this pandemic time till the vaccine is developed. He pointed out that that virus is likely to be more active by November.

Listening to the problems raised by members of the bazaar committees, the MLA said that water logging and accumulation of dirt in the market areas are results of drain blockages at many places. He urged the senior and permanent dwellers to cooperate with the administartion in sorting out the space that would be required for carrying out the drain works in the future.

"The Highway will soon pass through the market areas and proper drainage will have to be carried out in front of shop buildings. Without proper drainage system, good road cannot be thought of." pointed out the MLA, informed a press release.
