ITANAGAR: An eviction drive was carried out to clear encroachers under the premises of 4th IRBN Hq Jully, near here recently.

Speaking to the media, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Talo Potom conducted Potom informed that the eviction drive was carried out as per the directives of the Court. He siad tha more than 200 illegal encroachments have been recorded inside the jurisdiction of the campus which has 340 Acers of area.

Potom said, "Besides the eviction drive undertaken with officials of the Land & Revenue Department and Police, we are also demarcating the boundaries and on the same time I also urged the concerned department to put-up in the demarcated boundaries."

Potom added that he had already sent notices to those who have illegally encroached the land. Notice has been served earlier, and hearing has been also done. "However, some have acquired LPC (3) and allotments (7), so we are checking their papers," he added.

"More than 90 per cent of land has been already encroached, so we are trying to clear ateast 50% of it," Potom said. The area was allocated to Urban Development in the year2002 but it has been transferred to Police for 4th IRBN Headquarter in 2013.

"However, there are some genuine people who residing in the area since many years, so if the State government seek some amicable solution they can assist them with proper channel," he added.

Meanwhile, he also disclosed that similar eviction drives will be initiated soon in the national highway from Hollongi to Chandranagar, Hotel Todo to Jully Tri junction and Jully Tri-junction to Bandredewa .

We need to keep our capital clean and splendor , so I would not compromised on that' Potom asserted.
