High-level team takes stock of steps against COVID in Arunachal Pradesh

PASIGHAT: In view of the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, a high-level team headed by Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix and Health Minister Alo Libang visited the COVID Care Center, quarantine center and check gate at Ruksin.

MLA Kaling Moyong, MLA Ojing Tasing, MLA Nyamar Karbak, MLA Kento Rina, MLA Lombo Tayeng, MLA Talem Taboh, DC, SP, DMO East Siang and others also accompanied the Ministers.

The team visited the COVID Care Centre at the North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine (NEIFM) to take stock of the ICU and ventilators installed recently as well as the preparedness for COVID-19. The team also visited the quarantine center at the outdoor stadium in Pasighat were stranded people from Green and Red Zones were accommodated in different sections. Earlier, the team also visited the Ruksin check gate which is the gateway for atleast seven districts to see the challenges of the frontline warriors.

Addressing a short but fruitful meeting after the inspection, Home Minister Bamang Felix expressed its contentment over the management and preparedness of frontline warriors as well as the district administration. "I am very much pleased about the preparedness toward the COVID-19 in the district," said Felix. He further urged the administration to maintain Information, Education and Communication (IEC) for better execution of the awareness toward the pandemic.

Briefing on the various steps taken by the Health department during this pandemic, Health Minister Alo Libang stated: "ventilators has been already set-up in the NEIFM, Pasighat. However, more such will be installed in another district of Arunachal in a very short time."

On testing equipment, the Minister informed that another virology lab is on the pipeline at Pasighat but before that TrueNat (Four Module) Testing machine will be installed in the next few days and the same will be installed at Tezu, Bomdila, Ziro and other district headquarters.

Earlier, the Health fraternity submitted a representation to the Minister for posting of sufficient manpower as well as ambulances. The fraternity also expressed resentment over the transfer of the lone ICU incharge in midst of the lockdown period.
