Intellectual Property Rights Day observed at Rajiv Gandhi University

Itanagar: The Intellectual Property Rights Day was celebrated at Rajiv Gandhi University campus on Friday which was organized by Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology in collaboration with the Central varsity. A day-long awareness workshop on Intellectual Property Rights also organized on the occasion.

The programme was graced by Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, and Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) VC Prof Saket Kushwaha.

In his address, Gopal highlighted the importance of Intellectual Property Rights and the potential of youngsters in the state which he said could be easily traced. He also highlighted the rich biodiversity of Arunachal Pradesh and urged the officials to file Geographical Indicator (GI) tag of all the unique horticultural, agricultural products and unique designs of traditional costumes and handicrafts. Prof Kushwaha stressed on a strong mechanism for promoting Intellectual Property Rights among the scholars and researchers of the state.

The achievements and activities of the Patent Information Centre (PIC) under the aegis of Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology was also highlighted during the programme, a press release informed.
