ITANAGAR: The Khonsa General Hospital in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, has temporarily closed all its services, except emergencies, for three days from Sunday after a large number of its health workers tested positive for COVID-19 over the past few days.

A circular issued by the hospital's Superintendent Dr K Socia said that the decision to close the hospital was taken in the view of the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases. Around eight staffers of the hospital tested positive on Saturday. "It has been decided to close down the hospital for 72 hour from Sunday for contact tracing and sanitization of the hospital and its premises," the circular said, adding that a limited number of staff will be deployed in the hospital to limit the transmission of the infection.

As on October 2, the Tirap district has 69 active COVID-19 cases. Altogether 240 patients have recovered from the virus there so far.
