Member secretary of APSLSA Inaugurated Legal Aid Clinic In Namsai

ITANAGAR: Member secretary of Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Service Authority (APSLSA), Budi Habung inaugurated the new legal aid clinic here at Namsai on Saturday.

The legal aid clinic has been established under APSLSA and supported by Department of Justice and Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India.

Speaking to the reporter, Habung said that the main objective of the clinic is to provide free and competent legal service to the weaker sections of the society and also to organize Lok Adalat. He said that any legal work under the clinic will be provided free to the people of the district.

“The people don’t have to pay the fee for any legal help or advocate’s fees as it will be paid by the APSLSA,” he said.

Habung said that an advocate along with a para legal volunteer will be always in the clinic to help the people for any kind of legal work. From suggestions, writing a bail application, any property dispute or domestic violence, the advocate will provide legal help and also help in filing petition in the court, he added.

Circle Officer (CO) Dr Leegang Ampi informed the gathering that the judiciary and administration is being separated. There are many people unaware of this and approach the office.

“We receive cases from the people and also file a report and refer the case ahead to the department concerned. But now, by the establishment of the legal aid clinic it will make easy for those people to get justice and let them know where to complain for any specific matter,” she said.

Meanwhile, district Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Singh requested the youths to avoid drug use. He said that most of heinous crimes in the district are due to the addiction of drugs and executed by the drug addicts.
