National ODF Competition: West Kameng Adjudged Second

ITANAGAR: West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh has bagged the second position in the entire country in the ‘Swachhata Darpan-ODF Sustainability 2019 contest’, which was introduced by Ministry of Jal Shakti to assess the activities carried out by districts regarding ODF Sustainability.

In recognition of excellent work carried out, district team leader Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop was felicitated on Sunday by Aamir Khan — noted Bollywood personality and ambassador of ‘Pani Foundation’ — at Hotel Pride Plaza in Delhi.

During interaction, Aamir Khan congratulated the awardees and lauded their role as leaders on ground to bring about behavioural changes in people and for making ODF (Open Defecation Free) a reality in India. He urged everyone to work tirelessly and keep on imparting awareness to THE masses in order to sustain the achievement.

Sonal Swaroop, while appreciating the good work done by the PHE (Public Health Engineering) Department in the entire district specifically mentioned about the tireless efforts made by PHED Executive Engineer N Konia and his officials to reach out to each resident of every village traversing the rough terrain and braving the harsh weather.
