NERIST Student Gets India’s First ‘Domain Certificate’

ITANAGAR: Pamir Roy, a second-year Mechanical Engineering (diploma) student of North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), near here, who had completed 15 online learning courses of the ‘National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning’ (NPTEL), has become the first student in India to get ‘Domain Certificate’ in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) from NPTEL.

Altogther seven IITs and IISc Bangalore offer the NPTEL which is financially supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). NPTEL started domain certification programme in July 2018.

On his ‘rare’ feat, Roy was felicitated during the SPOC felicitation workshop held at IIT Kharagpur on July 27.

Apart from studying regular courses at NERIST, Roy has completed a large number of courses in other branches of engineering. He was invited to share his experiences with the faculty members of different colleges and universities at IIT Kanpur NPTEL on Saturday. On this occasion, he was also felicitated by Prof Satyaki Roy, National Coordinator, NPTEL.

Roy has been offered a month-long internship in IIT Madras. NPTEL will provide financial support for his travel and accommodation, a press release informed here on Sunday.
