One dead, several injured in road mishap at Arunachal

Itanagar: A student died and several others were injured in the early hours on Friday when a Tata Sumo they were travelling in veered off the road and plunged into a gorge near Biru village in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, police said.

Aalo police station officer in-charge Yomken Riram informed that the driver of the vehicle, going from Itanagar to Aalo, fell asleep and lost control over the vehicle. He said the vehicle fell into a gorge, about 30-metre off the road, in between Logum Jini and Biru village. The OC said there were nine people onboard the ill-fated vehicle, including the driver. The deceased has been identified as one Dakpor Kamra, the OC said adding, he was a student of North East Frontier Technical University, Aalo.

The body of the deceased has been handed over to his relatives and the injured were taken to Aalo general hospital.

The driver of the vehicle one Raja Owari has been arrested, the OC added.
