ITANAGAR: Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering along with legislator Techi Kaso inaugurated the outer ring road which leads through Jully connecting Pappunallah, Naharlgaun, at 6-Kilo Point here recently.

Speaking to the reporters, Tsering informed that the public works department (PWD) has agreed to provide an extra fund of Rs 7 crore for early completion of the two ring roads connecting Itanagar-Naharlagun by the next year.

He said that the focus of the Department is to complete the ring roads at the earliest to avoid traffic congestion in the state capital. He also informed that the road which connects Ganga market to Jully will be completed by the end of February next month.

"We are also looking into the maintenance of Chimpu-Jully-Pappunallah road to ease smooth travel," said Tsering adding that being an advisor to the PWD Minister, his target is to construct and renovate the existing ring roads within the capital region.

Legislator TechiKaso said that unless the public follow the traffic rules and properly park the vehicles, traffic congestion can't be solved.

"The public should follow the rules of traffic. I have also requested the State government to provide extra funds for the proper construction of the outer ring roads in the State capital," he added.

On the sideline, Kaso also criticized the State government for not allocating funds for the developmental projects like roads and bailey bridges within the capital complex.

"The present State government is more into providing funds to the individual schemes rather focusing on overall development of the state capital," he said, adding that the result is that the important developmental projects which are on halt for the past many years suffers.

He also charged the government for adopting improper financial practices and inept management, leading to the current critical financial problem.

Meanwhile, PWD Superintending Engineer TumtoKamchi informed that there are two ring roads being constructed which will act as a bypass connecting Naharlagun-Itanagar from left and the right side of the NH-415.

He said that the construction of the ring road has been sanctioned in two phases at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crore.

"The very idea of constructing the ring road is to avoid traffic congestion without connecting the main town of Itanagar. The roads will be completed by the end of March 2022," he said.
