Rajiv Gandhi University Research Scholars Forum (RGURSF) office inaugurated at Tissa Halls

RONO HILLS: Rajiv Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha inaugurated the varsity’s Research Scholars’ Forum (RGURSF) office at the Tissa Halls of Residence here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, the VC said that very soon the classrooms will be converted into smart classrooms equipped with projectors, digital screens, microphones and speakers.

“The aim behind the modernization is to improve the teaching-learning experience. The smart classrooms will immensely benefit the students. We have plans to convert at least one classroom in each department into hi-tech ones,” the VC informed.

On the slow-pace progress in Ph. D synopsis registration, the VC said the administration has set up a committee that is working on the mechanism to hold the synopsis screening in the university itself.

“Under the new rules, synopsis screening will be held within the university itself. Sending synopsis outside the varsity is not just against the basic standard of a Central university but it creates unnecessary hurdles for the research scholars. However in departments where it is unfit to hold screenings, the old tradition will be followed,” Prof Kushwaha pointed out.

The VC also informed that scholars can now present their Ph. D thesis viva-voce through online modes, such as skype.

From the coming session onwards, semesters will also be shortened in order to reach up to the national framework, the VC added.

Speaking on the importance of NIRF rankings, the VC advised the research scholars to play important roles in bagging a good ranking for the university.

Extending his support to the RGURSF, the VC assured to facilitate the Forum’s office with a computer, printer, 3 almirahs, research books, and other basic furniture.

RGU Registrar Prof. Tomo Riba in his speech lauded the Forum for the new office and advised to make the best use of the office. He also dwelt at length on the importance of research and the sincerity needed to complete and submit it on time.

RGURSF chairman Reken Lollen on behalf of the forum expressed gratitude to the university administration for the office allotment and assured to make optimum use of the office space.

RGURSF general secretary and spokesperson Renu Loyi also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, the VC also launched the calendar of the Forum.
