Rumgong Intellectual Forum (RIF) demands minister’s resignation over corruption charges

ITANAGAR: Rumgong Intellectual Forum (RIF) of Siang district has alleged state minister for Power Tamiyo Taga is involved in corruption and nepotism in various development works in his constituency like proposing government projects on his private land and in favour of relatives. This allegation has been made in a press conference held at the press club here on Tuesday.

The forum has demanded immediate stepping down of the minister from his post on moral ground and sought of the state government to constitute Special Investigation Team (SIT) to find out the real fact and let the people know about it. RIF’s convener Tami Pangu alleged that all the government works since from the year 2009 is being executed by his elder son Taging Taga.

“Through Right to Information (RTI) we have found that out of the 46 projects in various department of 32nd Assembly Constituency since 2009, 26 projects were allotted to his elder son,” he said. He informed that the construction of Indoor stadium at Patum which was sanctioned in the year 2010-11 with an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakhs was shifted from the original location to a far flanged area.

“Now it is learnt that no players go to the stadium as it so far from the main town. So at present the stadium is being used by Taga’s elder son Taging Taga as storage for construction materials, he added.

Similarly the RIF have alleged the minister for various other corruption practices in the constituency. The forum has also earlier on 25th of September 2019 in a complaint letter to the Chief Minister of state had appraised the matter of rampant corruption and nepotism.
