Sensitization Workshop on APPDWCAB held at Aalo

Itanagar: A sensitization and consultation workshop on Arunachal Pradesh Protection of Drinking Water Catchment Area Bill (APPDWCAB) 2019 was held on Monday at Aalo in West Siangn district under the chairmanship of DC Swetika Sachan which was attended by several organisations including heads of departments. The DC in her deliberation stated that since the sources of water are diminishing day by day, time has come for the people to rejuvenate the existing sources to cater growing water needs of the ever expanding population, an official communiqué informed.

“The government is keen to protect the catchment areas of all sources of water through legislation,” she said and added that the people should not worry that all lands near water sources would be notified and kept under government and further asked all the gaon burhas to draw public opinion on the draft bill by December 26 next.

PHED executive engineer Kirba Sora explained in detail about the draft bill and disclosed that diminishing sources of water everywhere is a cause of concern for every consumers and the government is mooting a legislation to protect all catchment areas.

Former minister Doi Ado and former ZPM Tumpe Ete and others spoke on the need for such legislation.

PHED assistant engineers Bomi Nyorak and Geli Noshi gave a detail deliberation on the draft Bill through Power Point Presentation.

A few gaon burhas who were apprehensive of losing their jungle lands through such legislation were asked to conduct such awareness workshops within their respective jurisdictions and submit report by December 26 next, the communiqué added.
