The ACEO said that the commission has appointed April 27 as the repoll date and the time of voting will be 6.00 am to 2.00 pm. The decision of repoll came after the there were reports of EVM machine damage and of voting procedures being vitiated.

The repoll will be done in 5 polling stations of 18 Palin (ST), 3 polling stations of 19 Nyapin (ST), 3 polling stations of 20 Tali (ST), 6 polling stations of 21 Koloriang (ST), for both parliamentary and Assembly constituencies.

Addressing media persons in Nirvachan Bhawan, Darang said that the Returning Officers (RO) and Assistant Returning Officers (ARO) have been directed to make necessary arrangements for fresh repoll. The police department will make appropriate arrangement for the conduct for the same.

He said in every Assembly constituency, a SP along with a magistrate will be deployed.

When questioned on the video which surfaced in social media of a underage boy claiming to have cast vote for Lokam Tassar at Damin polling station, Darang said that a person enrolled in E-roll can cast his or her vote.

“If there is any complaint or the polling agent says that particular person is underage, he or she should make a declaration that he/she is not underage by submitting an amount of Rs 2 and then the vote can be cast,” Darang said.

He also added that no separate enquiry has yet been initiated on the issue as there will be repoll in the Damin polling station on April 27.
