Tele-Medicine Services On Cards Across Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is contemplating to introduce tele-medicine in various general hospitals, district hospitals and community health centres (CHCs) to improve health care facilities across the state.

The government would provide specialists-level consultation for any health facilities in districts which have reliable connectivity, official sources said here on Wednesday.

“The system will operate in a hub and spoke model with Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) as the centre having connections with various general hospitals, district hospitals and CHCs,” the sources said.

The officials added that the state government had launched the ambitious Chief Minister’s Arogya Arunachal Yopjana (CMAAY) for providing health insurance coverage for a family up to Rs five lakh per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization which are not covered under AYUSHMAN Bharat scheme of the Centre.

“The government will strengthen the scheme to empanel key important hospitals in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Mumbai and Delhi,” the sources said adding, the government has also been providing assistance up to a ceiling of Rs five lakh per patient under the Chief Minister’s Free Chemotherapy scheme and up to Rs ten lakh per patient suffering from kidney transplant problem under the Renal Care Fund.

The sources further disclosed that the government, in order to cater to health facilities of the poor people, has decided to establish a 200-bedded government hospital and a dedicated maternal, child and eye care facility in the state capital besides providing services to the residents of the capital and function as a satellite and a feeder hospital to TRIHMS.

“The government had created 208 posts of specialists and 108 posts of general duty medical officer (GDMO) to overcome the shortage of doctors in the health centres across the state,” the sources said and added that the five zonal hospitals at Aalo, Tezu, Khonsa, Bomdila and Ziro were also being upgraded and strengthened.
