Third RK Mission School in offing in Arunachal Pradesh
Itanagar: Vedic chants today reverberated across this small tribal hamlet Lumdung, signalling the beginning of a new chapter in the educational scenario in the East Kameng district and the Western part of Arunachal as a whole.
The chanting was performed by the swamis as part of the Ramakrishna Mission's foundation stone laying ceremony here.
With laying of the foundation stone here, RKM Lumdung has become the third Ramakrishna Mission in the state after Aalo (1968) and Narottam Nagar (1971).
RKM Velur Math, Kolkata, assistant general secretary Bodhasarananda Maharaj in his presidential address said, "Our endeavour will be to create rich human resource and place them at the disposal of the society so that they transform the whole state."
Stating that investment in Education is the best investment which promises rich dividends in future, Bodhasarananda appealed all to cooperate and support the mission and assured that the legacy of RKM will be carried forward through this institute also.
He also informed that besides creating a centre of excellence, they also plans on starting a vocational and health here. Bodhasarananda, however, said that they would require more land to pursue it and appealed to the local residents to assist them in this regard.
Addressing the gathering, chief minister Pema Khandu congratulated the people of East Kameng and the entire population of Western part of Arunachal for getting a reputed mission in their area. He also asked all MLAs of Western part of Arunachal to extend their support for the growth of the mission. The MLAs of Western Arunachal contributed Rs five lakhs each for the mission through their MLA LAD fund. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and local MLA Mama Natung among others attended the function.
