Vital road project gets SARDP-North East nod
Itanagar: The High Powered Inter-Ministerial Committee on Special Accelerated Road Development Programme for North East (SARDP-NE) on Thursday cleared the proposal of Rs 3,988.98 crore for Potin to Pangin National Highway–13 road project in Arunachal Pradesh under Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH).
The proposal includes additional cost of electricity and water supply in the project. The proposal was cleared during the 79th meeting of the committee, chaired by Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) secretary, a CMO communiqué informed here on Friday.
State Chief Secretary Satya Gopal attended the meeting on the directive of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and briefed the committee about the significance of the project as it is one of the lifelines for the people of the State. The project has been pending for long due to compensation issue in the State.
The committee divided the entire stretch of 351.383 KM of Potin–Pangin NH into three packages by combining package numbers 1-3, 4-6 and 7-9 having lengths of more than 100 kms each and costing more than Rs 1,000 crore civil work so that petty problems which could delay the project, could be sorted out.
The secretary categorically instructed that bid should be invited in such a manner that one bidder should be awarded only one package, the communiqué said. Considering the importance of the project, the MoRTH secretary requested the Chief Secretary to be present in the pre-bid meeting which would be held at Itanagar under the aegis of MoRTH so that the bidders could be explained about the necessity of completion of the project in a time bound manner. The committee further instructed the concerned authority to invite bids at the earliest so that work on the important project could see the light of the day. The bids are likely to be invited in the second week of February.
