Women Volleyball Tournament begins: Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Minister Health & Family Welfare, RD and PR Alo Libang today attended the first ever Women Volleyball Tournament (WVT) organized by Sikiing Kojee Charitable Society of Upper Siang District at general ground, Yingkiong amidst huge sport enthusiast spectators.

Besides, the terms March (Olympic march) along with VKV Girls’ band troop, oath taking ceremony, spectacular mega dance was performed by 120 girls.

Libang speaking on the occasion said that the district has set a rare example by organizing a WVT, without any government fund or aid and without expecting anything from the chief guest.

He lauded the effort of the society and opined that Sikiing Kojee Charitable Society has not only given women a platform to showcase their talent but also an opportunity to maintain their health, remaining the mantra “health is wealth”.

He also informed that the state govt. as well the centre are giving priority for emancipation of women and girl child.

Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner, Upper Siang District Duly Kamduk, praised the Sikiing Kojee Charitable Society for conducting the first ever women volleyball tournament in the district.

He appreciated the society for organizing the women tournament which was never been looked into by others including department. He also advised the players to play the game with sportsmanship spirit.

Earlier, the General Secretary of the Sikiing Kojee Charitable Society Dr. Mity Jopir, in her speech informed that there were 15 women teams from different age groups participating in the tournament. She apprised that the tournament was conducted in charity without any joining fee.
