KOKRAJHAR: As many as 10 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Kokrajhar district and all the 10 new cases are from quarantine centres. With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Kokrajhar district has spiked to 103.

Talking to media persons, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Bhaskar Phukan said that the 10 fresh COVID-19 positive cases had been identified as Raju Saha (19), resident of Serfanguri bazar who was quarantined at Titaguri Block Development office; Albertus Tirki (48), resident of Dolgaon who was quarantined at CIT; Sajidur Rahman (24) of Harbhanga village who was quarantined at CIT; Aron Murmu (27), resident of Bharat Nagar who was quarantined at Kachugaon; Rajiv Sarkar (31) of Gandernpur Gossaigaon who had come from Maharashtra and was quarantined at Bodofa cultural complex; Salema Bibi (30), resident of No.1 Sapkata Gossaigaon who was quarantined at BBE College and had returned from New Delhi; Rufsana Begum (11), resident of no. 1 Sapkata Gossaigaon who was quarantined at BBE College; Adibor Rehman (31) of no. 1 Sapkata Gossaigaon who was quarantined at BBE College; Yesmina Begum (12) of no. 1 Sapkata Gossaigaon who was quarantined at BBE College; and Mominul Houqe (24) of Bahadurpara.

The DC said that there were as many as 41 quarantine centres in Kokrajhar district, including Gossaigaon subdivision and Parbatjhora, and as of now around 1,150 people were in the quarantine centres. Phukan said that people were coming by train from different States every day and all people were first taken to the swab screening centre at SAI and then sent to the different quarantine centres. Only few people were coming by road these days, said Phukan. He added that 10 days random sample swab drive had started from Thursday.
