Guwahati: 13 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 novel coronavirus have been reported from Hailakandi on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 156.

Health authorities here disclosed that Mohiduddin Laskar 22, Abiruddin Choudhury 18, Jabir Hussain Choudhury 21, Khairuz Zaman Laskar, 23, Usman Goni Laskar 25, Fozol Hussain Choudhury 24,

Saidul Hussain Choudhury, 25, Nazmul Hoque Mazarbhuiya 35, Parul Hussain Talukdar, 26, Aktharuddin Laskar, 22, Jakir Hussain Shek,19 and Jaidul Islam Laskar 20 have tested positive. They were under institutional quarantine at Joy Mangal High School. They had all arrived here by flight from Mumbai on June 10.

The infected patients have been shifted to the SK Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi.

Another COVID-19 patient from Algapur's Uttar Narayanpur, Rajbul Hussain, 25, is presently undergoing treatment at Kalapahar COVID-19 designated Hospital in Guwahati. Rajbul was under institutional quarantine facility at Borbari after his arrival from Mumbai on May 31.

Two COVID-19 positive patients succumbed to the contagious disease in the district, the recent victim being Mangoli Rani Das, 53, a resident of Bakrihower Part I under Algapur revenue circle, who breathed her last at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMC&H) on Friday.

Another COVID-19 positive patient named Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, of Borjurai village under Hailakandi revenue circle died at SMC&H on April 10 last.

There are currently 102 active cases. 52 patients on being cured have been discharged from civil hospital in Hailakandi, SMC&H, Silchar and Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

54 infected persons are admitted at SK Roy Designated COVID-19 Civil Hospital, 24 at MG Model Hospital in Hailakandi, 23 at SMC&H and one at Kalapahar designated COVID-19 Hospital in Guwahati.

Of the 3,369 swab samples taken, 3,088 turned out to be negative as on Tuesday. Results of 87 swab samples awaited.

There are 938 persons under facility quarantine centre and 1,503 under home quarantine.

There are two containment zones in the district - one at Bakrihower Part I under Algapur revenue circle and the other at Monacherra Part I under Lala revenue circle.

367 persons arrived by several buses from Guwahati on Tuesday at Dholeswari Inbound Passenger Facilitation Centre where screening and swab samples were collected. Of the total people that reached here on Tuesday, 350 have been put under institutional quarantine while 17 under home quarantine.
