TINSUKIA: The 27th foundation day of Moran Jatiya Mahila Parishad (MJMP) was held at Langkashi village in Tinsukia district with day-long programme on Tuesday.

Organized by the central committee of MJMP under the aegis of All Moran Students' Union, Makum Anchalik Committee of MJMP and citizens of Langkashi, the open meeting was chaireThe 27th foundation day of Moran Jatiya Mahila Parishad (MJMP) was held at Langkashi village in Tinsukia district with day-long programme on Tuesday. by Deepa Saikia Borah which was inaugurated by former All Assam Students' Union (AASU) leader Sorbeswar Moran. The event also witnessed essay, art, quiz, extempore speech and Jyoti Sangeet competitions among various groups.

In her speech as invited speaker, former chairperson of MJMP, Shova Dohutia Moran recalled the struggle of MJMP in the initial years and raised several social issues that were inflicting the Moran community. Among others who spoke on the occasion were renowned novelist Juri Bora Borgohain, professor in History, Dibrugarh University, Dr Nirodh Baruah, Dr Rishi Das, former president of Tinsukia District Journalists' Association, president of Moran Xahitya Xabha, Tarun Baruah Moran and journalist Hemanta Saikia. A souvenir Jagriti and annual mouthpiece Dharitri released on the occasion was inaugurated by writer Sukhidhar Dohutia.
