BONGAIGAON: The district health authorities, Chirang, said that three COVID-19 patients had recovered and were discharged from Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary (JSB) Civil Hospital after their swap samples tested negative on Sunday.

The discharged patients were identified as Pakan Iswary (19) from Betini under Amguri police station, Savio Borgayary (12) from Taikajhara and Prakash Narzary from Laimuti under Runikhata police station. They had come back to Assam from Chennai by train and had tested positive on May 23. While discharging them from the hospital, they were felicitated with Aronai and gift items by Ringkhang Mushahary, ADC, Chirang, doctors, nurses and other health workers of the district.

With this, the total number of COVID-19 active cases in the district becomes 16, including two more positive cases registered on Sunday. Among them, 12 patients are in the isolation ward of JSB Hospital, Kajalgaon and four have been referred to go outside Chirang district for treatment. As per the present status of COVID-19 report in the district, out of 1,643 persons coming from other States by train and flight, 717 are under 17 institutional quarantine centres set up at Kajalgaon Sadar subdivision and Bijni Civil subdivision.
