TEZPUR: Along with the rest of the country, the 59th Teachers' Day was observed in Tezpur at a district-level function held at the District Library Auditorium on Saturday.

The solemn function to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was held under the aegis of district administration in association with the offices of the District Elementary Education Officer and Inspector of Schools. Additional Deputy Commissioner Parag Kakati presided over the meeting where MLA of Sootea, Padma Hazarika attended as guest of honour and vice-chairman, AMTRON, Ritu Baran Sarmah as special guest. Eminent educationist and Principal of Rangapara College, Dr. Ranjan Kalita delivered the keynote address on the occasion.

MLA Padma Hazarika spoke at length about the various policy decisions that brought about changes in the education system in India right from the 18th century till present times.

DEMOW: The COVID-19 pandemic dampened the 59th Teachers' Day celebration. Few schools of Demow lit the ceremonial lamp before Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's portrait on Saturday.

The Demow Regional Students' Union felicitated the teachers of Demow area with a phulam gamosa and a pen. The 59th Teachers' Day was celebrated centrally in Sivasagar on Saturday. The District Education Department had organized a programme in Sivasagar Yuba Doul on the occasion of 59th Teachers' Day where the best teachers of Sivasagar district were awarded.

Biren Kalita, an Assistant Teacher of 673 No. Demow Town Primary School, Sima Rekha Konwar, Headmistress of 120 No. Dehajan Kuchiyamari Primary School, and Haren Lahon, Headmaster of Demow Sukanpukhuri High Medium School, were awarded by the Education Department with a phulam gamosa, citation and a certificate in Sivasagar Yuba Doul. The award was handed over by Lakhinandan Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar district, in presence of Abdul Jelil, Inspector of Schools of Sivasagar district, along with other dignitaries present in the programme.

MORIGAON: Along with the rest of the country, Morigaon district administration, in association with the District Elementary Education Office (DEEO), celebrated the 59th Teachers' Day at Morigaon Pobitora Hut.

DEEO Kamal Gogoi delivered the welcome address in presence of Deputy Commissioner Leena Das, Superintendent of Police Dr. Nandan Shing Borkala, CEO Kishor Thakuria and Additional SP Suvashis Barua.

Morigaon district administration felicitated 13 retired teachers and other teachers on the occasion.

TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia district administration, in association with Department of Education, High School Teachers' Association, District Academic Council, High School Sikshak Aru Karmachari Santha and Middle English Teachers' Association, celebrated the 59th Teachers' Day with felicitation and other programmes at the DC's conference hall with Geetali Duwara, ADC (Edn), in the chair.

While felicitation was held in various categories, outstanding contribution of a tea garden teacher has been reckoned with among other awardees like Buddhiman Limbu of Pub Kashomari LPS, Matrika Guragain of Ambikapur MES. Tarun Nayak, a head teacher of Panikhowa Div TE LP School managed under Samdang Tea Estate, was applauded for his innovative skills in imparting teaching among garden children. During lockdown period, Nayak took extra effort to conduct classes by visiting students' homes, sometime line wise according to their convenience.

KOKRAJHAR: Along with the rest of the nation, the 59th Teachers' Day was also celebrated in various places of Kokrajhar.

The Department of Education, BTC, observed the day at Kokrajhar Girls' HS School auditorium hall where State Social Welfare and Soil Conservation Minister Pramila Rani Brahma graced the occasion as chief guest. Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Bhaskar Phukan, Inspector of Schools, Kokrajhar, Jagadish Prasad Brahma, DEEO, Jaypal Brahma and other distinguished guests were present. The ideal teachers of the district were felicitated on the occasion along with felicitation to retired teachers.

GOLAGHAT: Along with the rest of the country, Golaghat district also celebrated the 59th Teachers' Day with great fervour on Saturday.

On the occasion of Teachers' Day, teacher of Bhulaguri Kamala Miri H S School, Mandira Tamuly was conferred award by the Education Department.

Mandira Tamuly has been serving as subject teacher at Bhulaguri Kamala Miri HS School with honesty, sincerity and dedication. In presence of Inspector of Schools, Golaghat, Dr Samiran Bora, the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Bibhash Chandra Modi conferred the award to Mandira Tamuly in programme held at the conference hall of the office of the Inspector of Schools, Golaghat.

DIPHU: On the occasion of the 59th Teachers' Day, a programme was held in Arboretum-cum-Craft Centre Auditorium Hall, Diphu organized by District-level Teachers' Day Celebration Committee. Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang attended as chief guest.

The CEM said that that fund amounting of Rs 55.44 crore for twin hill districts with total 1,836 schools (1,152 in Karbi Anglong and 684 in West Karbi Anglong) under IRDF scheme for Development of Infrastructure Facility in Elementary Education based on report by External Evaluation in the past Gunutsav Phase I and II would be released from KAAC through School Managing Committee and construction work would begin soon.

In the meeting, rank holders of the HSLC and HS exam, 2020 and Principals of the schools from where the students secured ranks were felicitated with a Karbi Poho.

UDALGURI: The 59th Teachers' Day was observed at the Udalguri Inspector of Schools office.

The lamp was lit by AK Brahma, ADC Udalguri, and he paid tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The meeting was chaired by Bhaben Deury, the Inspector of Schools, Udalguri district circle.

Bhajan Sarkar, the headmaster of Tangla Model High School, Baidyanath Upadhyaya, assistant teacher of Harisinga H S School, Gobinda Deka, assistant teacher of Bandarguri High School, Kiran Bala Boro, assistant teacher of Barnagaon High School, Janamul Hazarika, headmaster of Bhehuguri M E School, Maina Konwar, assistant teacher of Nizdala Binapani L P School, Gautamjyoti Talukdar, headmaster of 2 no Goraibari L P School, Jogen Boro, head pandit of Nachanshali L P School, Sukumoni Narzari, assistant teacher of Gerua Bagaribari L P School, and Lilamaya Devi, assistant teacher of Gorubandha L P School were awarded with the good teacher award on the occasion. Dr. Luke Daimari, the Principal of Udalguri College, delivered speech and he urged teachers to focus on nation building.
