7-year-old Adivasi girl missing from April 19 rescued

TANGLA: A 7-year-old Adivasi girl, who went missing on April 19 from her neighbourhood in Nepalpara (Merabil) area under Mazbat PS in Udalguri, was finally rescued from Mazbat TE on Monday morning. According to reports, the father of the minor, Gopal Kuruwa, after searching for his daughter, lodged a missing report with police vide Mazbat PS case no.21/19 under section 365 I.P.C. The police launched a search operation and successfully rescued the minor from the house of one Birsi Kujur (35) in Dipa line area of Mazbat TE where the child was kept and was about to be trafficked in a day or two.

There have been several reports of missing persons, especially minors and women from various parts of Udalguri district, which clearly signals the active presence of human trafficking groups which have been working in an organized manner.
