A Tribute to Biren Borthakur

Biren Borthakur -an old settler at Natunmati, Mariani, son of late Mahendra Nath borthakur and late Kunjalata Borthakur exhaled his last breath at the age of 70 at the Military Hospital, Basistha, Beltola in Guwahati on December 31 at 1:10 am.

Born in Hantikhuli TE in Upper Assam, late Borthakur was an honest and dedicated security officer in Asia’s biggest plywood factory (Birla) at Mariani and gracefully retired from service in the year 2008.

Late Borthakur was popularly known as Birenda by the people of Mariani. He was a sincere and dynamic person and was admired by all categories of people.

He was closely associated with many social organisations at Mariani. He was one of the founder members of the famous Mobile Theatre “Hengool” at Mariani. Besides he was associated with Mariani Youth Society , ‘Kinshuk’ group, Natunmati Naamghar, Vaishnav Samaj, Masjid Samaj, Christian Society, Vishnu Mandir, Mariani Jatiya Vidyapith, Mariani Press Club, Marwadi Samaj, Mariani Regional Students Union etc.

His manifold social activities will be ever remembered by all at Mariani. Borthakur used to often deliberate with the upcoming youth of Mariani in dealing with various social problems and adviced them not to be frenzy with their associates in resolving the common issues.

He is survived by his wife, three sons,three daughter inlaws and grandsons and granddaughters. Today is the day of his adya Shraddha ceremony at Mariani. I sincerely pray to almighty to grant eternal peace to his departed soul.
