LAKHIMPUR: The North Lakhimpur regional unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) on Tuesday distributed text books and hand note books among more than hundred students belonging to economically backward families under the district.

The programme was organized under the 'Book Bank' initiative taken by the organization. Notably, North Lakhimpur AASU initiated the Book Bank programme in 2008 in view of extending a helping hand to the students belonging to economically backward families with regard to pursuing advanced education. Through this programme, the students who pass out can donate their text books and their hand note books to the Book Bank of the North Lakhimpur AASU and then these collected books are distributed among the students.

Like the previous years, the programme was organized at the Swahid Bhavan in North Lakhimpur town on Tuesday under the management of North Lakhimpur regional AASU president Pranjit Gogoi and general secretary Punamjoti Burhhahain.

"We will always stand by the meritorious students belonging to economically backward families. Our organization will endeavour to extend them a helping hand to continue their journey of pursing education," said president Pranjit Gogoi.
