AASU, Gaurisagar stages protest demanding cancellation of CAA

GAURISAGAR: AASU Gaurisagar Regional Unit of Sivasagar district on Monday launched a 24-hour-long hunger strike in front of ASTC Gaurisagar Bus stand to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). The activists of AASU displayed various play cards writing in various slogans and demanded to reject the act. Samiron Phukan, secretary, AASU, Sivasagar district committee; Montu Sahu, president, AASU, Sivasagar Subdivisional committee; educationists; mediapersons and former AASU leaders participated the programme. The programme started at around 6 am and will end by Tuesday morning at 6 am. Earlier, a group of miscreants on Sunday night destroyed the tent and AASU flag. AASU activists vehemently condemned it and demanded the Gaurisagar Police to nab the miscreants. Manash Protim Hazarika and Janardon Das president and secretary respectively, AASU Gaurisagar Regional Unit has expressed gratitude to all for extending help and cooperation to the protest programme.
