Agriculture museum to be inaugurated by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in Jorhat

JORHAT: Assam Agricultural University (AAU) will add another feather to its cap after State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will officially open the one of its kind agriculture museum of the region at the premises of AAU, Jorhat campus on Monday, in presence of Dr. Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah, the Vice-Chancellor of AAU, Dr. Jayanta Deka, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Arpan Kumar Saikia, Registrar-AAU, Dr. R Sharma, Director Physical Plant, Dr. Rana Pratap Bhuyan, Director, Students Welfare, AAU, Dr. Ruprekha Bora, Dean Faculty Community Sciences, and heads and faculty members from the six colleges under the university, said Dr. Ranjit Saud, the AAU PRO.

Dr Saud added that this would be the first agriculture-based museum in the region to highlight all traditional forms till the modern age of agriculture. The traditional forms of agriculture show the curve between the past and present and highlight the importance of agriculture as 99 per cent of our population is directly or indirectly dependent on agriculture, said Dr Jayanat Deka, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture.
