All BTC Minority Students’ Union demands justice for slain ABMSU leader Lafiqul Islam

Kokrajhar: The All BTC Minority Students’ Union on Wednesday staged a two-hour sit-in dharna demanding justice for slain ABMSU leader Lafiqul Islam and other issues at the Children Park near the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office in Kokrajhar. Around 100 members of the student union took part in the dharna with placards and banners and shouted slogans

Talking to reporters, ABMSU president Md Ashraful Islam Sheik slammed the government for not being able to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of Lafiqul till now. The union also voiced its strong opinion regarding the high court order for the eviction of non-tribals and other persons not eligible to hold possession of land’ in the tribal belts and blocks protected under Chapter X of Assam Land and Revenue Regulation Act, 1886. The union also protested against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
