Bongaigaon: The All Koch Rajbongshi Students' Union (AKRSU) has decided to hoist a black flag in all places on August 28. In a press release, Gokul Barman, general secretary of AKRSU, said that after Independence, an accord between the Indian Government and Koch king Jagadwipendra Narayan Bhup Bahadur was signed on August 28, 1949, by which independent Kamatapur merged with independent India.

"According to this accord, Kamatapur had to be given the C class state level. But the government has betrayed us for which we have been compelled to adopt the path of agitation and hence we will hoist black flags in all towns and cities as a protest against this betrayal. We demand the immediate formation of Kamatapur state according to the accord otherwise the government will be responsible for any situation," he said.
