The 16th annual issue of the Lakhimpur Commerce College magazine and its 15th issue of LCom News, the half-yearly newsletter, were released on Wednesday at the college

LAKHIMPUR: The 16th annual issue of the Lakhimpur Commerce College magazine and its 15th issue of LCom News, the half-yearly newsletter, were released on Wednesday at the college in North Lakhimpur. The magazines were released by Manoj Kumar Baruah, District Development Commissioner, Lakhimpur in the presence of Dr Lohit Hazariuka, Principal of the college, along with Vice Principal Gopal Kumar Chetry, teachers and students.
Inaugurating the magazines, DDC Baruah said the need of exercising literary activities at the college by students and teachers. Quoting Greek classics, Baruah said that the importance of reciting poetry was so revered in ancient times that even vanquished armies condemned to death by the triumphant forces were spared for life only because of their love of poetry as witnessed in the Greek-Spartan wars. The meeting was also addressed by Principal Dr Lohit Hazariuka, Vice-Principal Gopal Kumar Chetry, Dr Harini Patowary Das, editor of LCom News, and Dr Sikha Moni Borgohain, in-charge of literary and magazine of Lakhimpur Commerce College. DDC Manoj Kumar Baruah also participated in an open discussion with the teachers of the college over literature, reading of books and importance of poetry.
