MORIGAON: Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) staged a three-hour sit-in at Bihutoli in Morigaon to demand international inner line permit in the State. Mintu Kr. Nath, advisor of AJYCP, said that Assam would turn into another Tripura if the government did not take any step to provide a constitutional safeguard to the indigenous people. More than 200 activists took part in the sit-in.

Tezpur: The activists of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Tezpur chapter staged a five-hour sit-in on Monday at Lachit Bakori demanding implementation of (ILP) inner line permit system in Assam.

While taking to media persons, Rajen Borah, president of AJYCP Tezpur Chapter said, “Implementation of ILP in Assam is our long-pending demand.

Suspecting a threat to the identity and existence of the indigenous people due to continuous cross-border infiltration and migration from within the country, the AJYCP had demanded for inner line permit in Assam nearly four decades back. Since Independence, these two issues have affected the socio-economic condition of the State in an adverse manner and some effective steps are necessary to save the indigenous people from becoming minorities in their own land,” he added. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India through Monoj Kumar Deka, Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur.
