NAHARKATIA: Blaming the private operator M/s John Energy Pvt Ltd for the Baghjan BGR well 5 Blowout on May 27, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Monday urged authorities that the firm should be black-listed.

The Dibrugarh district unit of AJYCP sent a memorandum to OIL CMD Sushil Chandra Mishra demanding suspension of all contract services of M/s John Energy Pvt Ltd within seven days.

"The incident happened because M/s John Energy Pvt Ltd is not equipped with modern technology to do drilling-related services in a gas well," AJYCP Dibrugarh district unit stated in the memorandum signed by president Girin Chetia and general secretary Priyabrat Gohain.

AJYCP also demanded compensation from the private firm M/s John Energy Pvt Ltd for the threat posed to Dibru-Saikhowa National Park due to uninterrupted gas leakage in the blowout location. AJYCP Dibrugarh district unit warned the OIL CMD of organizing a massive democratic protest if the OIL authority did not take necessary steps to suspend all the services of John Energy Pvt Ltd within a week.
