TINSUKIA: Tinsukia Election District comprising of three LAC segments out of 5 LACs –122 Tinsukia, 123 Digboi and 125 Doomdooma has initiated all preparedness for Assam Assembly election slated on March 27.

Addressing the media on Sunday, the District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Diganta Saikia told media persons that 4,57,399 voters would exercise their francize in 507 polling stations in addition to 164 auxiliary polling stations across 3 LACs with 1,101 D voters. As the continuous updation work has been going on, the exact number of voters will be available within a week, Saikia said. 

To create awareness among the voters particularly in those assam polling stations which recorded less than 80 per cent polling in the previous election, an elaborate programme has been envisaged, informed Saikia. He also stated that online casting of ballot has been made for COVID patients, differentially-abled persons and octogenarian voters. For the election, a total of 55 sector officers and 20 zonal officers have been appointed in three constituencies. 

As the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has already been enforced, Sushanta Dutta, ADC told media persons that the steps have initiated to deface posters, hoarding etc from buildings and premises. Ripunjay Kakoti, ASP also briefed media persons about security scenario in the district. The Election Officer Rashmi Pratap along with DIPRO i/c Niluram Sarma, AC was also present in the meet.
