SARUPATHAR: For the first phase poll on March 27, on Monday altogether three candidates submitted their nomination papers and one on Tuesday. All the candidates submitted their nomination papers in the office of the Subdivisional officer (SDO) office at Sarupathar in Dhansiri Subdivision in Golaghat district.

Bishwajit Phukan (BJP), Roselina Tirkey (Congress), Gopal Gogoi (Independent) and Raju Phukan (AJP) submitted their nomination papers to Returning Officer Javir Rahul Suresh for 94-Sarupathar LAC. Meanwhile, minister Pijush Hazarika and Ranjeet Das accompanied BJP candidate Bishwajit Phukan when he went to file his nomination paper. Similarly, Congress leaders Rakibul Hussain and Gaurav Gogoi accompanied present Congress MLA Roselina Tirkey when she went to file her nomination paper before the Returning Officer. On the other hand, supporters took out a mass bike rally and a huge gathering was seen in Sarupathar town. BJP candidate Bishwajit Phukan said that development was his main issue and he won the seat, he would focus on the development of Sarupathar constituency.
