Guwahati: Amid the Government's directive to unlock the economy, the Assam Government has exempted more categories of incoming flight passengers shall be exempted from institutional quarantine and will instead be sent for home quarantine.

The new exempted categories are as follows:

Husband and wife who travelled to Assam together

Husband, wife and their children who travelled to Assam together

Husband, wife, and their parents who travelled to Assam together

At the same time, the Government has said that the persons to be exempted from the previously-mandated should be "asymptomatic".

Every person in a group shall undergo 14 days home quarantine, after compliance with health protocols such as the collection of swab samples for Covid-19 test, hand stamping, conversion of the residence into a containment zone, among other measures

However, the exemptions from institutional quarantine will not be applicable if the flight in which the person has travelled has been found to have a high incidence of Covid-19 positive cases or has been contaminated in some way.

It needs mention here that Assam has so far reported 4,510 cases of the Covid-19, out of which 2,088 cases are active.
