Assam farmers team bags 'Best of India Biz' Award

MANGALDAI: The 18 member team of agriculture entrepreneurs of Assam has bagged the 'Best of India Biz Award' in the 17th Organic and Biotech India World Exhibition organized at Bombay Exhibition Centre at Goregaon East in Mumbai. They were awarded in the State Agro Agency category.

In the exhibition organized from December 3 to December 5, Union Minister of State Rameswar Teli gave away the award. Young agriculture entrepreneur of Assam, Dhruba Jyoti Saikia of village Ramgaon (Mahaliapara) in Darrang district and Homen Rabha of Dhanubhanga in Goalpara district received the award from the Union Minister of State Rameswar Teli on Wednesday evening. In the exhibition, a total of 18 progressive farmers from nine districts under Paramparagata Krishi Vikash Yojana (PKVY) represented the State.

Talking to The Sentinel over the phone on Wednesday evening, young agriculture entrepreneur Dhruba Jyoti Saikia of Darrang said that the agricultural products were of high demand in the exhibition as they sold bhut jalakiya and Assam Lemon at Rs. 20 per piece while Black Rice was sold at Rs. 200 per kg. Last year also the Assam agriculture entrepreneur team bagged the award in this exhibition.
