Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma Reviews Construction Work at The Children and Maternity Hospital in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, July 31: State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, during his visit to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), reviewed the construction work of the Children and Maternity Hospital (CMH) in presence of Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri, MLA of Dibrugarh, Prasanta Phukan, MLA of Lahowal, Rituparna Baruah, MLA of Tingkhong, Bimal Bora and senior officials of the Health and Family Department.

Dr Sarma said that all efforts were being taken to complete the construction work of the CMH building by first week of December this year. He also told mediapersons that the construction work of the Super Specialty Hospital with six major departments at the AMCH campus was going on in full swing and would be completed within December or January next year. He further said that the five-storey cancer hospital, whose bhumi pujan was done recently, would also be completed within the specified period. Preliminary construction of the building was progressing satisfactorily on 15 acres of land recently allotted. “A number of steps, including upgradation of MRI machine of AMCH, have been initiated by the Health Department and the outcome will be reflected in the years to come,” the Health Minister added. Referring to road condition of Dibrugarh, Dr Sarma, who is also PWD minister, disclosed that the State Government had already sanctioned Rs 32 crore for the construction of NH stretching between two ends of the by-pass and work would start from August this year.
