Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visits FAAMCH

BARPETA: State Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Barpeta Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH) on Tuesday and talked to Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora, Principal of FAAMCH, Dr Bobyjeet Goswami, Superintendent, Dr Suresh Sarma, COVID-19 positive nodal officer and Deputy Commissioner Munindra Sarma about the preparedness in FAAMCH to deal with the pandemic situation.

While addressing media persons, the minister said that a COVID-19 positive patient was being brought to Barpeta for treatment and now COVID treatment would start in FAAMCH. In Barpeta, 2000 quarantine seats were ready, he said. Within one month, the number of ICU beds in FAAMCH would be increased to 50, he added. The minister said that community transmission had not started in Assam, which was a good sign. Regarding re-opening of schools and colleges, he said that it would be decided after the summer vacation.
