Assam: Miscreant sets scooty on fire in Baksa district

Baksa: Sensation prevailed at Tamulpur subdivision along the Indo-Bhutan border after an unidentified miscreant set fire on a two-wheeler at Nagrijuli on Friday night in the district of Baksa.

Victim Ghanashyam Khanal said, "It was around 11 pm and we were all sleeping. We saw light coming through the windows and when we came out of the house, we saw that my Scooty was burning. Some miscreant has set fire to my Scooty which was kept the verandah surrounded by iron grill. We shouted for help and with the help of local people, we doused the fire."

The miscreant also set fire on a heap of hay. A team of police led by Kailash Malakar, in-charge of Nagrijuli police outpost, rushed to the spot and took stock of the incident. On Saturday morning, Ghanashyam Khanal lodged an FIR at Nagrijuli police outpost. Moreover, on the same night some miscreant entered the grocery shop of Nikunja Das in Nagrijuli Market by breaking a wooden wall and looted cash amount and some valuable items from the grocery shop. On the other hand, the same night some miscreants tried to steal an electric motor from the house of Durga Dulal of Baltipar village but failed.

On the night of January1, some miscreant set fire to a motorcycle at Kumarikata in the house of Menifes Besra, who is the teacher of Kumarikata Don Bosco School under Tamulpur subdivision. People are now living in fear of this unidentified 'Fire Man'. Kailsh Malakar told media persons, "We have taken the matter seriously and investigation is under way. We hope to nab those involved in these anti-social activities."
