TINSUKIA: The three-day 36th convention of Sodau Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) concluded on Saturday at Tinsukia College Auditorium with the adoption of resolutions and formation of new executive members for session 2020-21.

The open session held on Saturday was addressed by Prof Bhimkanta Baruah of Dibrugarh University. In his speech, Prof Baruah highlighted pertinent points relevant to the present-day conflict in the Assamese society as a whole. “Before we force others to use Assamese vocabulary, we must use perfect Assamese language at home without intermingling English synonyms. Work culture is a must to rebuild Assam,” said Prof Baruah. Referring to the functioning of Karmachari Parishad, Prof Baruah pointed out that the employees, particularly lower grade, should not be deprived and ignored as their contribution to building a society and culture was immense. With the bounty of natural resources, Assamese youths still lack the desire for self-sustenance and they ought to change their mindset, Prof Baruah observed. He also released the souvenir Bohniman in presence of dignitaries and guests.

The new executive committee for 2020-21 was formed with Pradip Dutta and Mrinal Das as president and secretary-general respectively. The four vice-presidents are Dwipen Sarma, Nripen Bhuyan, Sarat Das and Jamal Ahmed while four joint secretaries are Partha Hazarika, Syamanta Das, Khagen Mahanta, and Rahul Amin.
