Awareness programme ‘Chetona’ for welfare of senior citizens in Baksa district

Tamulpur: With a view to create awareness for the welfare of the senior citizens, a day-long programme named ‘Chetona’ will be held on January 23 at Nagrijuli Market in Baksa District. The programme is being organized by the Social Welfare Department of Assam in association with Bodoland Territorial Council, Kokrajhar.

To celebrate the programme with success and to form a reception committee a meeting was held on Friday at Nagrijuli Model Hospital Auditorium Hall which was presided over by Emanuel Moshahary, MLA of Tamulpur LAC and Chairman of Assam Small Industries Development Corporation where Additional Chief Secretary Juli Das Brahma, Deputy Commissioner of Baksa District Ranjan Sama along with other officers of various departments were present in the meeting.

Addressing the people, Moshahary described about the programme Chetona which will fulfill the needs of senior citizens. Moreover, he described about various upcoming schemes of Assam government which will be implemented for the welfare of the people. Additional Chief Secretary of BTC Juli Das Brahma, Deputy Commissioner of Baksa Ranjan Sarma, SDO (C) of Tamulpur Sujit Baglary also delivered their valuable speech regarding the programme.

In the meeting, a reception committee was formed where Krishna Tikdar was selected as the chairman and Alauddin Ahmed and Khem Bahadur Thapa were selected as chief convenor and seven chairmans of VCDC under Nagrijuli Development block were selected as members of the reception committee.

More than 1000 senior citizens comprising Baksa, Kamrup and Nalbari district under 8 ICDS offices will be felicitated during the programme. BTC Chief Hagrama Mahilary, Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, BTC EM Mrityunjoy Narzary, MLA of Tamulpur Emanuel Moshahary along with several departmental officers will also be present in the programme.
