Awareness programme on scientific cultivation of potato concludes in Dima Hasao district

HAFLONG: Two-day training-cum-awareness program on scientific cultivation of potato was successfully concluded at P Longkhai and Simplangdisa village of Dima Hasao district on January 22 and 23 which was organized by AICRP on Potato, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat.

In both the programmes, Dr. Mahima Begum, Jr. Scientist (Agronomy), AAU talked about the prospect of potato cultivation in Dima Hasao district and the best technologies to be adopted for successful potato cultivation. Bhaswati Sharma, Jr. Scientist (PBG) talked about the different promising varieties of potato and how TPS could be the alternative seed source of potato cultivation in absence of good quality tuber seeds. During this entire program, Parkey Gogoi, SMS ( Hort) , KVK, Dima Hasao) was highly associated since the beginning and helped in all possible ways for the success of the programme. Parkey expressed that KVK Dima Hasao will always extend their support in the near future too for the development of the agricultural sector at Dima Hasao. All the villagers were highly satisfied with the programme and requested to take up some demonstration for the benefit of the farmers.
