Biennial conference of Telahi Kamalaboriah Sakha Xahitya Xabha held in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The 16th biennial session of the Telahi-Kamalaboria Sakha Xahitya Xabha, one of the strong branch unit of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX), covering two mouzas of southern Lakhimpur, was held with a two day long programme on Thursday and Friday under the aegis of Kalita Gaon Yuva Sangha.

The agenda of the event on Friday began with the unfurling of Axam Xahitya Xabha flag by the branch unit Xahitya Xabha president Jagyonarayan Hundique. It was followed by a series of competition events on poetry recitation, sports and go as you like among the students.

The open session organized on the occasion began with the title song of the AXX presented by the artistes of the Yuva Sangha and the local Moina Parijat. It was chaired by Lohit Chandra Khaond, the newly selected president of the branch unit Xahitya Xabha. Secretary Powal Chandra Gogoi explained the objective of the programme. Writer cum academician Lakhi Borah graced the occasion as the chief guest. He released the Swarnabahi, the regular publication of the branch unit Xahitya Xabha, edited by poet Mintu Sarmah.

It was followed by a poets’ meet and Rupkonwar Jyoti Prashad Agarwala commemoration programme on the occasion of the Shilpi Divas. The poet meet was chaired by journalist Sanjib Borah wherein poets like Haren Hazarika, Mangalmoy Patrika editor Jiten Baruah, Natya Chintan editor Mintu Saikia, Megharam Payeng, Jiten Narah, Mintu Sarmah, Pranita Saikia, Bonti Lekharu, Suchitra Saikia and many others recited self composed poetry. Several vocal artistes presented Jyoti Sangeet in the programme.

On the other hand, the final meet of the last session executive body of the branch unit Xahitya Xabha and delegates’ meet commenced with president Jagyonarayan Hundique on Thursday. In the same delegates’ meet, the executive body for the forthcoming 2020-22 session was constituted with Lohit Chandra Khaond as president, poet Dulal Dutta as vice president, Mintu Sarmah as secretary and Rintu Saikia as magazine editor.
