Biswanath Chariali: The newly-appointed Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, Dhruva Jyoti Das interacted with the media persons of Biswanath district on Thursday at the conference hall at his office.

He solicited suggestions to carry out some important activities at the initial stage. The media persons coming from Gohpur, Halem, Sootea, Jamuguri and Bedeti also apprised him of several problems being faced by the people of Biswanath and Gohpur subdivisions of the district. These include parking of vehicles, traffic jam, rampant illicit trafficking of Arunachali wine along Assam-Arunachal border, the poor condition of NH 15, the dilapidated condition of public markets, poor condition of tea gardens, potentialities in tourism sector and speedy resolution of land related matters.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner met the representatives of various social organizations of the district. They accorded him warm welcome to the district by presenting gamosa and other ethnic items. The meeting was attended by senior citizens Jiten Bhagawati, Nityananda Gogoi, Bijoy Goswami and others and they resented that the district-level educational offices were yet to be set up in the district and as they were still functioning from Tezpur. The DC assured his level best to resolve these problems.
