Biswanath people demand Bi-Weekly Rajdhani Express stop

BISWANATH CHARIALI: There is a strong resentment among the local citizens and organizations of Biswanath Chariali for not giving any stoppage of the 02505/02506 Dibrugarh-New Delhi-Dibrugarh (via Bogibeel) Bi-Weekly Rajdhani Special at Biswanath Chariali Railway Station that starts its maiden journey from Dibrugarh to New Delhi on Monday. It may be mentioned here that when the North-East Frontier Railway decided to run this train a few months ago, Biswanath Chariali had also got a stoppage here, but due to the spread of COVID-19 in the country, this train-service could not be started. Now that this train service is going to start again, Biswanath Chariali's name has been removed. It may be noted that Biswanath Chariali is an important city in northern Assam and a lot of people travel by train. Bidyut Sharma, secretary of Biswanath Chariali Nagarik Santha, Pankaj Kumar Bora, secretary of Biswanath Chariali Chambers of Commerce, Biswanath Chariali Press Club and others said that Biswanath Chariali, the headquarter of Biswanath district, is an important place from tourism, education and business point of view and hence a stoppage of Rajdhani Express at Biswanath Chariali is very much necessary for the convenience of the people. Demanding this, memorandums were submitted to North-East Frontier Railway and former Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohan several times earlier. The organizations also commented that the NF Railway's present decision would be strongly opposed.
