KOKRAJHAR, July 12: The Bodoland University (BU) on Thursday celebrated its 22nd foundation day with a day-long colourful programme at the university premises at Debargaon in Kokrajhar. BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary said there had been allegations that the Assamese language was being neglected in BU. He said there was no question of neglecting the Assamese language in BU as the Vice-Chancellor of the university was an Assamese and most of the departmental heads and professors were Assamese-speaking people. He slammed certain elements and the media for creating a ruckus over the use of Assamese language in Bodoland University. He said that people should not pay attention to such baseless allegations.
