Boko: Boko Assembly constituency MLA Nandita Das distributed high power torchlights in many villages along the Assam-Meghalaya border to protect villages from wild elephants’ attack, on Monday evening. Two torches per village were distributed in Dohgaon, Kodompara, Gohanimara and Dolguma villages.

MLA Nandita Das said that this month two wild elephants died and villagers were injured due to man-elephant conflict. Cattle died and damaged many houses in those villages. After these incidents, the MLA visited the areas and also extended financial help to the injured villagers. During her visits, the villagers sought torchlights to protect their villages at night.

During the distribution programme, MLA Nandita Das advised the villagers to grow bananas and sugarcane far from the villages as wild elephants usually entered villages in search of food.
