BREAKING: Guwahati-based media industry personnel tests Covid-19 positive

The patient had reportedly come in contact with a Covid-19 positive person on Sunday

Guwahati: A Guwahati-based media personnel has tested coronavirus positive, becoming the first from the industry to be infected with the dreaded contagion in the city. According to reports, the Covid-19 positive professional is employed with the Hindi daily 'Nishpaksh Samachar', which has its offices in front of the B.Barooah college in the Ulubari area.

The professional, who is a part of the printing and publishing press of the newspaper, is a resident of the Jeev Nihar apartment located by lane number of Tarun Nagar in Guwahati.

A source informed The Sentinel Digital that he had met a Covid-19 positive patient on Sunday, and could have contracted the virus from that person. The source further informed us that the professional has not come to the newspaper office for over a month. According to reports, the patient is not exhibiting any of the symptoms associated with the contagion.

It needs mention here that Assam has so far registered 4,319 cases of the Covid-19 so far, out of which 2,103 cases are active. While 8 persons have died from complications, 3 have been migrated outside the state. At the same time, 2,205 persons have been discharged after recovering from the virus and the recovery rate has now climbed upwards to 50%, which is at par with the rest of the country.
